Our Purpose:
The main purpose of this website is to make the dance and folk music of Sri Lanka accessible for anyone to learn and enjoy. By seeing and learning our dance and traditional drumming culture, we hope to instill in the youth living far away from Sri Lanka the ability and desire to preserve our traditional arts for generations to come.
We also hope to facilitate the opportunity for anyone in the world, regardless of heritage, to learn our Sri Lankan traditional dance and drumming if they wish to do so. We know that there are many foreigners who have had a glimpse into our traditional arts and would love to learn more about it. We hope that this website becomes a tremendous resource for them.
We hope to publish everything on this site in both Sinhalese and English, and in the future we hope to extend these resources to be translated to other languages as needed.
It is also our aim to shed a light on the great Gurus who have played an immense role in preserving our traditional dance, drumming, and music and bringing it to the present day. We want to honor them by bringing their creations and their stories to the attention of the world by publishing them here.
